The map of Black Rock City.

The city

Forty people you know are going, and once you are out there you cannot find any of them.

Seventy thousand people, five miles of desert, and a network that stops working the moment everyone arrives. Right now that lives in a group text nobody can search.

Drop your pin

Type three letters. Your camp is already there.

The address gets someone to the block. That one sentence gets them to the door, and it is the part nobody else asks for.

Not in the registry? Type the address however you say it out loud — 7:30 & E, 730 E, E & 7:30 — or let the map read it off your GPS.

One link

Send one link to everyone who needs it.

Find your people

Everyone who sent you a link, held together.

This is the part that is worth opening every day for two weeks. The product is not really a map — it is a way of keeping track of people you love in a place built to make that hard.

Then you leave

Print it, fold it, put it in a pocket.

The registry

1,180 camps, already placed.

Every placed 2026 theme camp is on the map at its official address and searchable, and 488 of them are still looking for members — which is genuinely useful if you have not sorted out where you are camping yet.

This was compiled from Burning Man Project’s public release. The camps have not claimed these entries, every one links back to its own official listing, and any camp can correct its location or remove itself instantly, on its own word, with no proof asked for and nothing to appeal.

Next year

And when you get home.

People come back with two thousand photographs and nowhere good to put them. The map fills back in — pictures pinned where they were taken, the art you found marked and described, the week kept as a record rather than a plan.

That part is not built yet. It is what comes next.

What this is

It is a gift. That is the whole business model.

• Free, and there is nothing to buy.
• No ads.
• The map and a week need no account. Joining a camp does.
• No tracking, and no analytics watching you read this.
