About

Spots is a collection of oversized map pins appearing individually across Black Rock City, each eight feet tall, black and bold, outlined in reflective yellow tape. A six-foot flag pole rises above each pin, its label lit by solar lights at night. Every pin swivels so it can be read from any direction. Each pin marks a specific kind of human moment: The Hugging Spot, The Giggling Spot, with more arriving in future years. They borrow the visual language of digital navigation and plant it in the most radically human place on earth, marking locations found on no map app. Spots asks nothing. It simply identifies what is already possible anywhere two strangers stand near each other, unhurried, present, closer to something real than expected.
