Still Point, or "At the still point of the turning world."
Imogen Speer — Portland, OR, United States

About
Still Point traces the correspondence between macrocosm and microcosm, revealing patterns that recur throughout life and the value we ascribe them. The installation consists of two mixed-media panels, each approximately 12 by 8–10 feet, combining painting, collage, and gold leaf. One panel contains enlarged animal, bacterial, and plant cells, where cycles of birth, growth, movement, and dissolution unfold alongside fragments of human experience. The other presents an angelic figure juxtaposed against the solar system, her form divided into scenes of memory, value, and meaning-making. Together, the works contemplate scale and intimacy, transience and continuity, the reflective still point of conscious existence.
