About

Untitled (omphalos) is a sculptural installation composed of eleven burned firewood towers and two viewing platforms made from sanded, charred wood. Rising from the open playa, the work imagines the omphalos, the mythic center of the universe, as a place of threshold and convergence. The blackened towers form a gathering point between opposing forces: life and death, striving and surrender, doing and being. By day, the installation casts long shadows across the desert floor; by night, it glows from within and around its edges, creating a quiet field of light. Visitors may move among the towers, climb the platforms, touch the wood, and inhabit the charged space between endings and beginnings.
